Freebird Jeep Tours closes down

This is an email we received from Freebird regarding the Closure of Freebird Jeep Tours( Safari Islands S.L) :

We regret to announce that Safari Island SL, Freebird Jeep Tours will cease to operate as of 10th May 2008.

We have no alternative but to reach this decision at short notice, as the financial constraints due to current economic circumstances and the significant increases in fuel costs and overheads have made it no longer commercially viable.

You will appreciate that we have made numerous financial endeavours in order to avoid this decision but due to the current and historic trading deficits, and the increasing demands of both quality and adherence to legal requirements placed upon us by providers and statutory authorities we have no alternative but to cease operation as we are unwilling to sacrifice our standard of product in favour of continuing a less satisfactory service.

This decision has no financial impact on the operation of Freebird Sailing and business continues as usual.

May we take this opportunity to thank you for all your past support and we hope to maintain our business relationship with you through Freebird Sailing.

Sorry to hear have finished their superb tours. Had a great trip with them only a few months ago and my and my partner will be back in Tenerife in November - does anyone else know any other form of 4×4 trips?

Very sorry to hear that, we had a great day out with you guys. If anyone from Freebird reads this site I have a huge favour to ask, we took your Jeep tour to Mt Teide on 29th April this year in the morning, but were leaving tenerife that day so you sent the CD we purchased to us, unfortunatley you sent the wrong disk you have sent us the 29th April evening. the cd was under th name of Mr Gould. We will happily pay postage again even though not our mistake but if the photos are still available somewhere we would dearly love to get hold of at least some of them. Thanks,

Claire, try emailing angela@freebirdsailing.com regarding your CD. She might be able to help.

So very sorry to hear of this closure. We had a fabulous tour with these guys last summer and were looking forward to repeating the experience this year.

We’ve had tremendous fun with the jeep tours over many years of holidays in Tenerife. It was a bit of a shock to find they had stopped. We were in Tenerife when the news broke. I often wonder what heppened to all the drivers? They were a great bunch of guys!

My Girlfriend and I went on a Freebird Jeep Tour up to the top of Mount Teide last September, it was an amazing experience and something we were looking forward to repeating this year when we go back to Tenerife at the end of August. We are very sorry to hear the bad news!! We wish everyone associated with that particular tour the very best for the future.
